   Proposal Description:
   Despite existing evidence that the apolipoprotein E (APOE) and brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) genes influence cognitive decline and neuronal survival, respectively, cognitive studies in heart failure (HF) do not account for these genetic factors. The aims of this study were to examine: (1) frequencies of APOE #9494, APOE #9492, and BDNF Met among people grouped by HF diagnosis and levels of cognitive impairment (normal cognition, mild cognitive impairment [MCI], and Alzheimer?s disease dementia [AD]) and (2) influence of HF on cognitive function.
